Dec 8, 2023, saw the release of Magick Helmet, Megaton Leviathan's first album in the five years since their critically acclaimed and groundbreaking cinematic Industrial Doomgaze masterpiece, Mage. Once again, it stumping critics and fans alike as it presents itself as something unrecognizable to even the adept, Leaving many with more questions than answers.

With the new single, Silver Tears, the announcement of a new lineup in a new town, Astoria, Oregon, signaling a new era of Megaton Leviathan. With a slimmed-down, volatile three-piece ensemble of Tory Chappell on Drums, Alex Wynn on Bass, Reuscher on guitar, synth, post-power electronics, programming, and vocals.

Megaton leviathan presents a kaleidoscope of opposites as Magick Helmet is entirely comprised of live way-out improvisations under the direction of Reuscher in an exercise with one goal in mind: unity. The single Silver Tears returns to the droning and gazing one might expect in a Megaton Leviathan studio track. Oozing of things primordial, proto, and Cromagnon. Drawing from 60’s psychedelic garage punk and early industrial.

In the 5 years plus since Megaton Leviathan's critically acclaimed album “Mage,” the band has undergone an overhaul. From being signed to “Outrun” label Blood Music and having a wrecking crew sextet of musicians, including Mort Subite(Curzum), Andrea Morgan (The Keening), and John Ried( Lord Dying & Matt Pike VS. The Automaton). Reuscher has taken a long hard look at his roots and what he set out to do with the project.

Now completely independent on Reuscher's own Volatile Rock Recordings, with maximum Doomgaze and minimalist approach embracing change and employing his love for things gritty, CVLT, and mind-altering. With a new lineup, in a new town (Astoria Or.) consisting of a power trio, pounding out primitive, subversive, and psychedelic Doompop hooks before Re committing to the ecstasy of becoming once again, half machine.

Perhaps this is forever, just in the moment. What it isn't is contrived. The Magick Helmet is demanding of the listener pushing them to their limits. Armed to the teeth with face-melting fuzz and Godzilla delays courtesy of the Doomgazer Pedal ( a collaboration between Emmergy Effects UK and Megaton Leviathan ) it is an album you don't just listen to in enjoyment but also endure. Begging the question Who is this rhythm section extemporaneously pulsing deep within the thrall of the Megaton Leviathan

Outside inside, Dawn the Magick Helmet and take her for a ride. An instrumental album recorded By Megaton Leviathan mastermind and founding member, Reuscher in his Psychedelic Inner Fortress studios. It is available free on the band website and band camp, for the friends, fans, and supporters of Megaton Leviathan. Thank you.
